Hi,
I'm only into my second week on Steemit yet I can see that Steemit is going to be a success. Yes, Steemit has a lot of expanding to do and this may alter the character and mood of this blockchain but so far it feels nice and civilised. A calm place, where people can come to chat, meet new people and discover new things; similar to how the internet used to feel back in the day, before it was destroyed by censorship, adverts and it's army of thought Police and trolls. Long may this continue.
It sure is an exciting time to be joining and the possibilities are endless. Steemit has a real chance to be a force for good in this corrupt and decaying world, and to be a real trend setter, and the example to follow. There are going to be no end of d'apps', which hopefully solve real world problems and disputes, and improve the lives of many. The real world benefit of Steemit is going to see the platform spread and distribute wealth more evenly across the world and this can only help to bring peace and prosperity in an increasingly impoverished, dangerous and fractured world. That is a thing of beauty, and aside from the money, we must all strive to make the world a better place for all. This can be achieved, but it requires willpower, perseverance and a need to quash greed. Greed has what got the world into this mess. Yes, we need entrepreneurs' and innovators', but I feel the greatest innovation of the 21st century is already here by way of the blockchain, thanks to the proven success of Bitcoin. Many more decentralised apps or 'd'apps' can be built upon the various blockchain's . Some will succeed, some will fail but who knows where this will leave Steemit? My guess is, in a good place, as the first decentralised social media outlet which rewards content creators rather than getting rich off the back of others hard work!
One thing is for sure: this blockchain is here to stay - and it will grow and grow for a long time to come, hopefully eclipsing Facebook, which has consistently closed down free speech and become the mouthpiece of the established, ruling political elite. Godspeed it gets there.
