I came to know about Steemit and Steem just a few days back. It immediately made some lightbulbs go off inside my head. After some serious thought, I think it is time for people to switch to a service like steem. Here is why.
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Youtube are just downright unfair
Unlike newspapers, where the newspapers pays the content creators to acquire content to publish in their product (a newspaper or a magazine), Facebooks and twitters of the world doesn't pay a dime for users to create the content. People use these social networking services to share and see what other people share. Hence, almost all the value comes from the users who continue to post on these services. Imagine a scenario in which normal people like you and me stopped posting on these social services. Will these services even exist after that?
Hence, these services exploit the basic human need to share and stay connected by owning all the content the users create on their service. Not only these services doesn't pay for the users but on top of that these services display ads on top of user generated content and generate billions in ad revenue. To better target these ads users who actually create value are monitored and tracked.
All these services have one thing in common and they do that one thing really really well. That is to give the user a great interface to create and share content. That is it. By giving that one thing these services has devised a system to own all user content.
If I give you super roads to carry your goods, Is it fair if I own all the goods that take through that road?
Why use Steemit
Steemit is the closest thing I've seen in sharing the value users create while maintaining a healthy service. Accumulating these microvalues in a reliable manner wasn't possible before crypto tokens. But, now the future is here. Let that future belong to us all.
