Women's dependence
According to Soenarjati-Djajanegara one of the attitudes that is labeled
to gender feminism is an attitude of dependence that is
the implications of vicarious attitudes (doing something for others).
According to him, in traditional American values, this trait becomes commonplace
because women are considered weak, helpless, unable to act,
not initiative and so on, which ultimately fosters attitude
dependency. Women must ultimately rely on their husbands,
boys, and employers. Such dependency can be
economic, social, status, mental, and so on.
(Sugihastuti, 2007: 300).
- The Nurture Theory Framework
The theory of nurture over looks that the difference between men and
women are largely the result of socialization, which means human creation
and the environment. In fact, biologically and psychologically mutually
influence in shaping humans as individuals and their relation with
other person (human relations). At first it was natural, nature,
fitrah, can not be rebuked. But then through culture (nurture),
human beings can be developed, educated, prevented, or even treated
contradiction with the natural foundation. Man and his behavior can be engineered.
(Nunuk, 2004: 61)
Humans from birth have been made identity by their parents. Through
the process of learning, humans began to distinguish between men and women.
Not only look at the biological aspects, but also relate to
basic functions and suitability of work. From the human learning process,
came the theory of gender which is the basis of thinking and philosophy of life
thus becoming a gender ideology. (Nunuk, 2004: 61).
