Introduction
Quora is a platform where people can share and gain knowledge. You simply ask a question, and then you hopefully receive an answer. It's a simpe concept, but it works. Quora was launched in 2009 by former Facebook CTO, and it's now worth 1.8B$. As April 2017 Quora has 190 million monthly users, increasing from 100 million last year. The success of Quora, as D'angelo says it (the founder), comes from the lack of no high quality competitors. STEEM blockchain offers the opportunity to build a similar concept that would definitely be classified as a high quality competitor.
Steemit Is A Competitor For Reddit
Steemit is working as a competitor for Reddit. Not Facebook, Not Twitter, Not Instagram. That being said, Reddit has a huge amount of users visiting the platform every day, and therefore the Steemit has a huge potential to grow. With only about 90-100k active users who post and engage, the future is bright for Steemit, compared to what Reddit have accomplished without rewarding their users.
Steemit is one thing, but the STEEM technology is somthing else. An open source technology that makes it possible for new creations build upon this technology. @Zappl are bringing a twitter like service to STEEM, which already looks very promosing. I believe many more are to come and therefore I want to present an idea.
Quora Concept Build On STEEM
The biggest payouts on Steemit is with no doubt coming from the posts, and not the comments. A similar concept like Quora would turn things around completely. As the question itself won't get any payouts, the best comment would get rewarded. Not only the best comment, but several comments. The best comment meaning the one with the most reward.
Quora is already trying to figure out a way to reward their users, and the users might therefore be more willing to join the STEEM concept, than reddit users would.
I have no idea how to build anything like this, so I am just putting it out there for everyone.
What are your thoughts on this? Would it work?
