Plug the Holes before bailing the Boat!
Steemit is a great system and it has been working flawlessly but there are few things which need to be prohibited. These things are draining the system and lowering the quality of the platform. We should always stay from these things because we want to get into serious business. Gradually removing these flaws will make us stronger and stronger.
These changes should be implemented if we don't want to get looted by spammers and scammers. I am not saying our system if flooded with spammers but I think there are many quality contributors which are getting neglected because of low quality content and spammers are manipulating the system.
I am going to list down things which dragging Steemit system. If have any other please let me know in the comment section.
Self-Voting
Self-voting should be disable because it doesn't make any sense. Everyone loves own content and if we vote for ourselves we are just circulating our own money. People who buy Steem power get more earning by self-voting and that helps them get trending.
Bots
Bots make this system unhuman, I know that's not a word but that's what I feel. And bots don't feel.
There are so many bots which vote our content without evaluating the content. They don't know content evaluation and that's why people can misuse these bots for voting.
Shorter Comments and articles
There are commenters who comment "Nice comment", "I followed you, please follow me back", "Please upvote my blog", et cetera. There should be some algorithm which can stop these non-sense. Bots can warm them for making repetitive comments and asking for upvotes and follows.
There are many commenters who add value to the content. And so many comenters who complements the article with their two cents.
Contests
I love contests but I think Steemit should stop contests which are just helping spammers. Contests can be manipulated by group of people. They can ruin the reward system with multiple entries and planned winners.
We can have some moderators who can validate these contests and make sure these contests are helping in our network expansion and engagement.
Wrapping up!
There are two sides of the coin one is good one and one is bad. There are some necessary changes needs to taken to sail this boat successfully.
Here is an article from my friend How to stop being a Steemit Sucker?
What's your thoughts on this, please let me know in the comment. (Don't just post, "Nice Post")
