Some of the men on this site are insecure
I've seen a lot of posts by men, complaining that their posts don't get as much attention as some of the women in our community have gotten. They claim that the women who have made successful posts on the site have done so purely because of their compelling anatomy.
It's clear that some men are threatened by women invading typically male spaces. The resentment is obvious. Our concept of masculinity is often linked to a higher status in society, and men feel cheated when they're denied that status. But it's time to put on our big boy pants.
It's beyond ridiculous to say that women don't deserve the successes they have earned. Especially in our male-dominated society, where women have to work much harder than men simply to be considered equal.
In the real world, men are the beneficiaries of countless unearned advantages. But in the minds of these dudes, men are successful because they deserve it, because they have earned it through hard work, talent, and personal merit.
The hypocrisy is stunning.
I don't have any interest in being part of a community that doesn't welcome the contributions of women. The most creative, vibrant, inspiring posts that I have read here were written by women. I have quickly grown to love this site, and I want to see it flourish. I want to see it fulfill its potential. But that won't happen if we are openly hostile to the idea of women participating.
