After being on steemit for 7 months I have seen a thing or two. Sometimes I raise an eyebrow, and sometimes I’m millimeters away from the keyboard ready warrior.
I have always maintained that when money is involved, teeth can come out. Is this a downside to capitalism? No I don’t believe so. Capitalism is a civilized way of dealing with our competitive natures. Yes, human beings are competitive by nature and we need shit done.
We used to live in a world full of war lords, and it can be argued it is just the same today. What I do know is , “by the sweat of your brow you shall work”. We have to work and we by nature are competitive.
Reward Pool and Whales
Us minnows have to sit at the sidelines when war breaks out. Much of the time we become the pawns in greater wars that are happening. We cannot comment, or flag in any meaningful way. Some hammers are bigger than others, and giants can laugh it off.
Freedom of speech is important but it doesn’t always have the desired effect. The little people can always be silenced. However some voices are louder than others. This is why conflict happens. When one believes something should be more evenly distributed they wouldn’t be wrong. On the other hand abuse isn’t just isolated to one person or thing. Even distribution also means fair distribution. This rarely happens. Sometimes there is a shining star..
The wild West
In the wild west we rely less on local law-enforcement and more on vigilante justice. Often passerby get cut down in the crossfire. I know of many great dolphin and whales who encourage minnow growth. I also know whales that encourage it only based on their political agenda or belief system. The truth of the matter is that the reward pool is distributed more among whales as opposed to the growth of the platform.
This has to stop in its entirety, or consolidation of power remains in the hands of the few. This doesn’t mean we hand rewards over to spammy posts, but it should be going to the middle class dolphins and upper minnows
Whenever consolidation remains in the hands of the few, and the body doesn’t get nourishment, often something goes sick or wrong. Natural growth will not happen where all power dies.
Perhaps Hard Fork 20 will iron out some issues.
In any case this war has effected me in the past and I will just roll with the punches. I want to thank everyone who is just trying to make this place more profitable for everyone; minnows alike.
