When designing a game you go through many iterations on look and gameplay. Working on Char Su we evolved the style and feel of the project many time going from realistic to more stylized.
Original Design
Our first draft of Char Su was a lot different more grounded less exaggerated proportions. Ultimatley after showing him around he didn't sit well with audiences describing the story of the game (See previous posts) most audiences had in mind a more child-like sense of wonder to what we were trying to create.
So what to you do when audiences reject your ideas?
Back to the drawing board
This time we knew what we had to go for and showing our work to the public was a great benefit the feedback reinvigorated us and inspired us to go in a new lighter and honestly more fun direction. This game was gonna be something we could feel it and after many new sketches and desgins it finally came together.
Design today
We were able to develop a visual design language the resonated with may we showed it to inspiring nostalgia in some who had played older video games and hope and fancy in younger children who were playing games for the 1st time. I'm proud od where the designs have come and hope when the game comes to market the steemit community will be among the first to share what has been done.
