OK, may be it's me not getting it or something, but I ain't got no dime from some daily 'Rewards Pool' on steemit since I've been here last August! Why? Please, somebody tell me something!
Ok, may be I should slow it down a lil bit. Yea, sure. Sorry if I kinda lost you with my rants, which is unusual of me.
But, the thing is: I don't know how I was logged out of my steemit account. Normally, my mobile browser's cookies always helped me in, but not this time, I had to go dig out my login info today. But as I was on steemit's front cover or what you nerds now call 'landing page', the message on it struck me.
Yea, for the first time I think. I joined steemit from a tweeted link, and ever since I've not had this opportunity to see how my community it being sold to the outside world. But just, hold on a min.
A pool of funds from where everyone who posts or upvotes an article on steemit is being rewarded daily?
Yes, that's what the " to get your share of the daily rewards pool" on that message means!
Does that pool really exists? No, there's nothing like that!
Yes, some of us came in here trailing the sexy 'GET PAID TO POST ON THE BLOCKCHAIN' sales pitch. But to stretch (or twist) that pitch somewhat further? No, that'd be against the values and ethics being built on this platform.
I don't believe everyone of us are here for just the money. I for one, I do salivate many a times when I see some posts raking in as much as a massive $900 and above, and was pleasantly surprised too the day I got almost $50 on one of my wise cracks (yea, many more of those are loading. Stay tuned), but, more than the money, what most of us treasure here is the priceless connections we make here and the impactful knowledge we share.
Like the Steemit's front page billboard rightly reads: "My Voice is Worth Something". Yes, it should because this is a community I've come to love.
So, with the worth in my voice I like to tell whoever is in charge of that front page billboard: Its time to change that message.
Thanks for readying, resteeming, upvoting and following.
