When you sign up to steemit you're given a strong Fight Club style warning about your password:
Take a close look at the sixth rule: Do not tell anyone your password.
Seems obvious, right? Well, this is the rule that I accidentally broke when I pasted my steemit account password into #postintroduction on steemit.chat:
Mind blowing isn't it? What makes it worse is that I didn't even notice (multitasking is a myth ladies and gentlemen). Thankfully, my hero came to my rescue and notified me:
I'm quite sure my heart rate went from 70bpm to 200bpm in half a second; this pretty much sums up my reaction:
Now I know that $230 isn't all that much money but I wrote some nice posts to earn that and I'm proud of it. Plus, it could have been more. Think of this post as a warning to you all and the introduction of a new password rule:
The eighth rule: Don't copy and paste your password.
Use a password manager. Don't be an idiot.
