What is a Reputation score? + HOW TO IMPROVE IT!!
Every user has a reputation score, mine is 25 at the time of this post. Yours is also likely to be 25 if you're new to steemit because all uses start off at level 25.
Why it matters.
The official Steemit team has implied that it's the utmost important thing vital for success on Steemit.
Your score matters because it shows all other users how reliable you and your account is. If you see an account with a score of 3, that is telling you to stay away from it. However, if you see an account with a score of 70 than you know it must have good, valuable content.
What Determines your Reputation Score?
Upvotes
Your reputation score goes up when someone upVotes on one of your posts.
The higher the voters reputation score is, the more impact it will have on your post. Also, the more Steam Power (SP) in the voters account the bigger impact it will have.
DownVotes
The only cause for your reputation score to go down is from downVotes. DownVotes will only affect your score if the voters score is higher than yours. However, if you receive more upVotes than downVotes on your post/comment the upVotes will cancel out the downVotes causing your score to increase.
All users with a lower reputation score than you cannot affect your score.
Please note: if your score goes below 0 than your posts will be hidden.
How to improve your Reputation!
The number one way to increase your reputation is by creating and posting content valuable to other users. If a user finds your post valuable than they may take their time to upVote it thus increasing your score.
