It’s something I’ve been thinking on lately for sure. I feel like Steemit is at the extreme of transparency because of the blockchain, and that works both for and against users in some ways.
On the one hand, there is no privacy & security controls which may bother some people. But we can all choose our own comfort level with what we share.
On the flip side, the site is not actively using data and algorithms against its users. I see exactly what I follow. Content isn’t fed to me via the choices of Steemit.
While third party data brokers will no doubt scrape the blockchain for info, the fact that I can trace the actions of any account, and any third party influence on the platform is using the same toolset and basically playing by the same rules as I am makes for a world of difference.
