Good morning everyone. As we all know by now, the hardfork has impacted significantly the community giving to minnows like myself a greater voting power. I am really excited about this as I believe this will incentivate new creators to continue working hard and posting interesting stuff.
As I metabolize this change, although -as said- I cannot be disappointed of, I'm thinking that there is a huge downside and I'm wondering what experienced users such as Whales and Dolphins think about it.
In my opinion hf19 is going to impact negatively on the genuinity of this community...
I haven't been here for long, just about a week, yet this time was enough to understand that many people are here just for the money. It's not rare to see useless comments (instagram style comments) such as "very nice".
This is a screenshot of the comments a user I've encountered yesterday left on serveral posts without bringing any value.
As you can see he copied and pasted the same message and he has managed to make profit out of them.
Incredible. Can't people tell a genuine comment from a fake one?
So, why am I saying all this? Let's get to the point:
In my opinion Whales and Dolphins are the ones that should be in charge of regulating the community by flaging spam posts and comments. This platform should reward hard working members, well written and interesting posts and although I'm aware of the fact that the users like the one in the screenshot will not get anywhere in the long run, he's still made almost 20 bucks while people that spend time on writing a good post aren't being rewarded that way.
Steemit is based on meritocracy and our vote is precious. Make it count.
So, am I the only one with this vision? What do you all think about this?
