Hi Friends!
I am really excited to bring you a new interview series with . He is an IT Professional and longtime crypto researcher and investor. He has a wealth of knowledge that can be extremely beneficial to this community and so I’ll be picking his brain on camera to bring you guys some great content. He has the rare ability to understand things on a deep, technical level and then distill the information in a way that is digestible for a more general audience. This is part of why his IT Company is booming with clients!
He probably spends more time watching videos and reading content about different developments in the world of Information Technology and Cryptocurrencies, than anyone I know. For example… we watched an interview of during dinner last night. #nerdycryptocouple
In case you didn’t catch my reference just there… is my boyfriend and so we are able to do the interview series live from his living room.
I think this interview series could be really dynamic. I am a more “general user” that is non-technical, but has a lot of questions. He is the technical guy that digs into all of the details. I hope that the combination of my questions, and his ability to respond in a meaningful way will be helpful to the Steemit community!
Today’s Interview Topic – Saving Passwords in your Internet Browser
The information in this video applies to saving any password in your browser, but is especially important in the world of cryptocurrency. There is no “Customer Service” line to call to re-set your password if something goes wrong. There is no recourse if someone steals all of your money. I think what shocked me the most from this interview was that a password saved in a browser could be so easily hacked in less than a minute.
In this interview, we address the following topics:
- Why is it bad to save passwords in your browser, and how easy is it really to get access to it?
- The two ways that someone could steal those passwords – remotely and in person.
talks about the various ways that someone could hack the passwords if they have your phone, laptop, or tablet in person – and also how they can hack it remotely.
- Ways to guard against remote hacking.
- Are macs more secure than PC’s? Are certain browsers safer than others?
- Most people save passwords for convenience. What are the easiest ways to quickly access your passwords while keeping it secure?
- We talk about the various Steem private keys and what level of risk you are exposing yourself to, depending on which key is saved in the browser. Click on that link to read an awesome article written by
helping people better understand the different private and public keys we have here on Steemit.
- Why would someone want to hack me?? I’m just a girl posting ukulele videos online. (Insert your own line of reasoning here.)
- Ok, let’s say by now someone is realizing the mistake of their ways. Can people clear this data? What should they do next?
What Topics Are You Interested in Seeing Next?
This will be the first of many potential interviews – so please let me know if you have any questions you’d like to see us cover! It could be anything regarding security, information technology, computer science, blockchain technology, etc.
I am planning to do an interview all about SMT’s next. I have a lot of questions about what they will actually look like when they come online, how it will change the community, and how people can get involved. If you have any questions on SMT’s or have suggestions for other topics – let us know! This guy could talk for hours.
Thanks for Watching!
I really hope you enjoyed this interview and I would love to hear if you have any questions regarding password protection. If I am not able to answer – I’ll touch base with and we will get you an answer!
