Hi Steemians... this is just a quick post to give my early impression of Steemit and whether someone could actually live on the value created by posting content here.
I've been using Steemit for about 2 weeks now and so far have found it very enjoyable. I find that the content quality is there, though you do have to proactively search for people you want to follow.
To me Steemit feels like a mixture of Twitter and Facebook groups. New content gets pushed lower on the feed pretty quickly so you need to be posting often to get max exposure. Shorter or video content also seems to perform better.
I've also being posting in other tags (e.g. gaming) which I am interested in that are less competitive than some of the top tags like life/bitcoin. Posts in less competitive tags have alot more staying power.
People with good Youtube presents like Boxmining and IvanOnTech are doing very well on Steemit, which is promising. For them I think itโs a full-time job and pretty much all that they do, but they are generating enough income on Steemit to live off.
So, can you live off Steemit then? Certainly, some people are already doing it. Whether this can continue is going to depend on how successful the platform becomes.
I'm hoping for the best but planning for the worst. So while I definitely enjoy Steemit and will continue to support the platform by posting, acquiring steem power and engaging the community. I also realise that new technology is risky and that we canโt have our livelihood depend on it just yet. So other sources of income are essential for now.
Overall, I'm liking Steemit alot :)
