Let's Bloom the Advertainment Community here on Steemit
Advertainment on Steemit could function as a form of crowdsource marketing where the "players" have fun while marketing useful products and services to other "players" within an esoteric community context such as what you would see in an alternate reality game, or augmented reality culture similar to Pokemon Go.
All Artists and Creative Minds Welcome
Creative minds are necessary to create content WITH A PURPOSE. The purpose of the content would be within the CONTEXT OF THE GAME for the benefit of the PLAYERS OF THE GAME, and there may be many SIMULTANEOUS GAMES on multiple layers and levels. There can be games for example which require superhero status and above as a necessary status for entry, or status itself could be a reversed pyramid.
The Reverse Pyramid Effect
Now I will describe something which minnows and little players may like. We have the ability to interpret status on Steemit in the context of an ARG in any way we choose. For example in an ARG it could be that having legend status or whale status on the official interpretation of Steemit is seen as being at the bottom of the pyramid in minnow oriented games. This would be a reverse pyramid where those who have too much Steem Power would have a secondary role or not necessarily be involved in these games which might require all players to be below a certain Steem Power threshold.
In Bitcoin we know from experience that Mastercoin(Omni) and Counterparty reveal that transactions can be reinterpreted fairly easily. Steemit transactions could simply be reinterpreted to have different meanings to different ARGs. The memo section of the transactions can hold arbitrary data and can be used by developers for ARGs and it is already being used as an advertisement column of a sort.
The Memo and Social Advertainment
Memos can contain keys. If memos can contain keys then these memos can contain game items. Bots could send small transactions which include these keys which can only be interpreted by the game players. In the case of an advertisement campaign the coordination could take place in this memo section.
This section can be encrypted or not, can contain public keys, but there are some limits.
Humor is a component of advertainment which can utilize the curation of Steemit. Only a human can really know whether something is funny but if something is funny and voted as amusing then it would make money even if it's a swarm of minnows. This would of course require creative people to generate the material to make the concept funny, yet entertaining enough to go viral.
Example?
But I thought Steem has no ads?
Steem can do ads, but Steemit developers might decide to be against ads. The point is if there are ads on Steemit it has to be both fun and profitable for people to "play" the advertainment game. Why would they do this?
Well in the context of an ARG, these players could get points. These players could get points delivered to them by bots over Steem directly to the memo section or through other unintended communication channels. These bots can reward the humans who take part in marketing quests, and as long as the process is gamified, fun, and profitable, there can be players.
But whether or not the reward will be Steem Power? This will depend on the campaign, on whether or not there is a true demand for what is being marketed. For example I know at least a few people on Facebook and other places who are interested in anti-aging, and who are working on a "Longevity Cookbook". This Longevity Cookbook could be beneficial to human health, but what about on Steemit?
Suppose there was a contest, come up with the most funny advertisement for the Longevity Cookbook, win upvotes from the anti-aging community? Suppose it becomes more complex? An ARG for anti aging, where the goal is to simply avoid dying, and players play the game with a purpose of supporting these efforts?
As Steemit goes viral, we have to decide what to do with the platform which could keep it fun yet allow people to make a positive life changing impact.
