Have you ever come across a post on steemit that you would have liked to upvote but it was past payout time?
Lets consider this. Steemit is a great blogging platform. Before joining steemit I had tried blogging on platforms such as blogger, hubpages and the likes, but I never was successful on those platforms. This is my personal opinion, steemit is newbie friendly, if one keeps posting quality content, its sure to earn something. The difference between steemit and those other platforms (personal blogs inclusive) is that one can get residual earnings from post made as long as the site is in existence and the advertising accounts connected the site remains active.
On steemit, one has a 7 days window to earn for a post, infact I have noticed that a post rarely gets upvotes after the first 3-4 days. That’s such a short period of time to earn on a post considering the amount of brainstorming and sometimes research put into coming up with a quality post, I guess a lot of steemians would agree with me on that point. This is where those other blogging platforms have an advantage over steemit and I believe steemit inc should fix this in time to come.
I recently came across a post by that I really would have liked to upvote but it was past payout period (am sure a lot of us have this experience too ) and it got me wondering why a post on steemit can’t get upvotes for as long as the steem blockchain exists, I might be wrong here but I think the reason would be because the reward pool wouldn’t be able to carter to it that way.
While pondering on this, it just came to mind that a tip button could fix this, receiving tips for post after the 7 days of upvote period is elapsed would help an author get residual earnings for every post made on steemit. The tip button can be programmed in such a way that when its clicked on it connects a user to his/her wallet transfer pop up and the authors username is automatically filled in with the memo being “ tip for (post url here)”, all the user now has to do is input the tip amount and send. That would be Cool right?
Someone might argue that this can be done manually, yes that’s right but this thought does not readily come to mind.we react mostly to what we see and research has shown that a “call to action” button increases the percentage of users taking a desired action on the internet so with the tip button conspicuously replacing the upvote button after 7days payout period a user is reminded that if the content is great he/her can still reward the author. this would encourage steemit authors to strive always to come up with great contents and also give users ( and would be users considering the fact that steemit is growing in leaps and bounds) that missed a valuable post during the upvote time frame the needed push and opportunity to contribute to a valuable post.
