For those who aren't familiar with the term Bot, it simply a software application that can be coded to perform common task on the internet. Their uses are widespread and as our technology improve they have progress from performing simple task to very complicated task. In fact, bots has become the cornerstone of a blockchain base token, that currently rank's in the TOP20 most valuable cryptocurrency. I am writing this post to galvanize the use case bases for bots on the Steemit platform.
First of all let me say thank you to bots that has made my Steemit experience easier, a shout out to who's always at work on the discord and
who's always at work on the Steemit platform. They do a fabulous job although
has develop a attitude of late. Nonetheless, lets get down to the worrying signs I see developing.
I strongly believe that businesses that prosper maintain a human touch at the very core of their empire, built around guidelines or rules that is strictly followed. I believe that Steemit must strive to maintain at its very core, the interaction of human beings in the reward system. I notice folks continue to recommend setting up bots or other code base application that specifically upvotes authors whenever they make a post. I personally think, that we should give this method of reward some serious thought and consideration. I know some folks are trying to get the best possible curation rewards as some authors are on-top on their game. Some folks use this method to support friends but this can have some deleterious effects in the long-term as the reward pool becomes a bank for certain authors.
If we continue to promote Bots or code base application in this form we would successful starve off budding writers and drive away potential investors. The platform should not get to the point of personality base as Bot's upvotes in drones. Someone attaches a video that 20 minutes in length but receives 50+ votes in the first minute and a look at the steemd.com highlights the same pattern everyday. Now I am not going after anyone but I am saying, bots would effectively create the same trending authors everyday.
I am certainly not telling anyone who they should upvote, but I am saying we as a community should not promote or encourage users to use Bot's for the purpose. I hope folks take this positively and realize that if this isn't curtail now then it can quickly become a circus show with clowns in the spotlight. We can create a truly remarkable platform if we maintain human interaction at the very core of this platform.
If I hurt anyone feelings, forgive me & let it go, nothing personal, One Love as always.
