Beginner's Mind is having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions when studying a subject, even when studying at an advanced level, just as a beginner would. Hence the image above.
So, I went to the first @SteemCampUK organised by at my local meetup space Impact Hub after signing up to Steem only two weeks ago.
It is rare for me to be in a situation where almost all the subject matter is new. New acronyms, new names, unfamiliar concepts and practices. What are: Discord, upvote, dolphin, curation projects, power up etc.? It was wonderful. I understood all the words, but not in that particular order...
So much to learn, and instead of working away on my own at a keyboard, there were other people that had been on the journey to help and advise. This for me is the best introduction to new concepts. Many thanks to for his insights.
I did a Getting Started session - and one of the principles behind an Open Space Unconference is that the instigator writes up the outcome of the discussion - so that will be my next post.
It felt like the early days of social media - my overriding experience was of positivity, newness and the re-kindled desire to explore a new space and new technologies.
Looking forward to the next one, and maybe some smaller local meetings too.
