I have read quite a few stories on steemit in the last 48 hours of bloggers offering and receiving amazing rewards. It's very satisfying!
HF19 brought a few changes to steemit, including the curation rules which changed significantly.
For example, someone who had a bot following his blog that would upvote with every new post was happy to see that in the span of 2 hours, all 3 of his posts were making very big payouts! If you only knew, you're thinking.
This new change is thanks to a lot of thought and discussion in the community about the best way to update steemit in order to be inclusive for all. Below I offer a very basic and brief explanation of how the new voting system works and how it is an advantage to everyone on the platform. For more details, you can steemit :-)
And just so you know, most of the people who had bots set up to help their fans are now probably going to do a lot more curating manually. So we newbie writers will get a chance after all! Thank you steemit!

Understand that Everything is Different Now
Every day now you get to give out 10 votes with 100% voting power. that means after your 10th vote your curation power will decline until it reaches 0 and only regain at a rate of 20% per day. Luckily, steemit allows you to control those 10 votes at 100% and instead choose to make 20 votes at 50% or 40 votes at 100%.
Also, instead of the first bit of time from writing giving the best upvote results, curators now have 7 days from the time of writing to offer an upvote to the author!
Why This Change is Good for Everyone
For people who like to focus on curating and are sought after by writers, they can now focus on making bigger payouts but to better content. This means that the best content is what will get paid for and not these multiple accounts that spew worthless content all over the platform for upvotes.
For those who have always had a passion for writing, you can now focus on writing engaging and informative content knowing that if it gets read by someone who takes curating seriously, you might make a nice payout like this article I wrote a couple days ago... :-)
