I think your point of going to the bottom of coincap.io and investing in a coin where your btc makes more of a difference may be what happened to reddcoin recently. Some whale(s) looked for a half decent coin they could invest and rocket the price. As soon as the price spikes you pull in people who get more involved and actually add some value to the community.
