Snax is a platform for rewarding social media content creators. It's based on the EOS blockchain - it's actually a fork of it - and it has a relatively different approach in rewarding content producers. As opposed to other platforms which are trying to build the community first and then build on various metrics inside that community (visibility, reputation, etc), Snax uses existing social platforms, like Twitter or Steemit, and rewards content creators for the attention rating they already have.
There is a certain value in this approach, and here's why I think it is:
- content creators can focus on their legacy social media platforms (here, the term "legacy" includes even younger competitors, like Steemit) instead of starting to build a new audience from scratch
- using one token for multiple social media platforms can reduce financial friction
- the "lose coupling" between the content creator and the rewards ensures there will be more flexibility in case of social media rating fluctuations (i.e. sometimes you're doing better on Twitter, sometimes on Steemit)
The platform is still in beta, but I joined it from the day zero. As a matter of fact, I'm the first block producer ever in the testnet.
I wrote this post as an informal introduction to this project, and as a honest signal that I'm joining as a block producer - a more thorough post will follow after the live blockchain will be launched.
