[Steemit General Question] How come my single vote on the top posts will bump it by maybe $100 SD but when I vote on people with $0.00 it does not change

I'm trying to understand why that is - yes I did not read the whitepaper - that's because it's 44 pages and I've done enough white paper read-throughs with the other cryptocurrency and ICO projects. If you could point me out to the page or section in the whitepaper that describes this I'm happy to read through, but I figured that someone else here Has read it?

I did this using reccordit which makes it effortless to turn screengrabs into movies and gifs.
