Hello dear readers!
Reading a post from my friend , a series of questions came to my mind that brought fears about freedoms and the future in Venezuela.
Despite all the economic situation in our country, the humanitarian crisis, shortages of food and medicine, the hyperinflation that hits us hard, we can say that we still enjoy civil liberties, freedom of expression and free access to services, Internet and information .
After reading this article: Bittrex is ceasing operations in my country I remembered isolated events (apparently) that have taken place in my country in recent years, events that have somehow deprived us of enjoying some means that, as a result of government measures, disappeared and passed To be part of the history of our country, facts that are worth remembering and analyzing.
Freedom strikes.
- On May 27, 2007, an emblematic television channel of this country was released from the RCTV air, it was one of the open signal channels with the largest audience in Venezuela, the reasons for its closure were to make open opposition to the government of the late president Hugo Rafael Chavez Frías.
- According to Sntp data between 2013 and 2018, 115 media outlets closed their doors in Venezuela, including radio stations, written press and television channels.
- The international news channel NTN24, based in Bogotá, by order of the Maduro government was removed from cable television in Venezuela on February 12, 2014.
- The signal of Caracol Televisión and RCN was withdrawn by order of the National Telecommunications Commission in Venezuela (CONATEL) on August 24, 2017.
- CNN in Spanish can only be seen online and this 2019 CNN Chile came out of the Venezuelan screens.
Recent events
Recently Adobe and some companies were obliged to suspend operations in Venezuela, as a result of the sanctions applied to Venezuela by the United States government. According to information I read in the following publication of my good friend : ADOBE Suspends Its Services to Venezuelans
Now it is about Bitrex, which suspends operations in the country, hence my concern then what will follow, Localbitcoin, steemit and others?. I think in Cuba that a few years ago the general population did not have access to the Internet, only tourists could pay for the exclusive service for themselves and the government after years of restricting the rights of citizens, still holding the United States accountable, the blockade against the nation of all the limitations they suffer.
What to expect in Venezuela?
Now ... what signs does Venezuela give us? Are there any real possibilities that the limitations increase? ... That is, we can expect that if this continues its rhythm, in several years, they will lose their freedoms, including access to the Internet and us, ¿Will we be listening to the government blame the United States for all the misfortune they have created themselves?
In steemit and Blockchain in general, Venezuelans find a true alternative to the crisis, this fills us with hope, makes us dream of a better future, even serves as an escape valve to not constantly think about our misfortune, here we find relationships very Valuable, genuine friendships, job opportunities and I don't conceive the idea of losing this means of freedom that we have.
Tell me your opinion, I would like to know your analysis of this situation, it will be possible that after finding a window of help, growth and financial independence as a steemit, we will lose this alternative again. I don't want to sound exaggerated, but this really scares me, losing this window frightens me.
Is it possible for that window to close? Is it possible that we lose even Internet access? How do you see the future of our country?
