As human beings, we live in an unjust world; a world where resources are never equitably distributed. A world where a few people live in abundance while a vast majority lives in peasantry and abject poverty. For instance, while a man owns three private jets, another cannot afford a moderate bicycle. While a woman owns numberless pair of shoes, another cannot afford a pair of bathroom slippers. What a tragedy!
Social theorists such as Karl Marx and Thomas Hobbs have traced the lopsidedness in resources distribution to the early agrarian societies, when man became settlers rather than wanderers. It was the private ownership of property, Marx and Hobbs argued, that resulted to an unjust distribution of resources in the human society. Whether these assertions are true or not matter less. We all have at one point in time in our lives lacked what others had in excess and vice versa.
It appears that, before this very moment, the only time in human history when there was abundance, when there was an equitable distribution of resources, was when manna rained from heaven for the children of Israel. The book of Exodus records that manna sustained the children of Israel for forty years in the wilderness. This means that the children of Israel lived in the age of abundance for only forty years. Afterwards, the age of abundance vanished from human history.
How Steemit Will Reincarnate the Age of Abundance
History is about to be rewritten before our very own eyes. Steemit, the first social network site on the blockchain, is about to alter the workings of the human society regarding the distribution of resources. Steemit makes it possible for everybody to freely earn Steem, which is a cryptocurrency that can be converted to fiat money in further exchange of goods and services. This is like saying Steem is another manna from heaven.
As I write, the Steemit project is at its infant stage with less than a million registered people across the globe. Already, however, Steemit has changed the lives of several ordinary people, making oasis for them in the wilderness of poverty. The Steemit momentum is gathering strength and it is expected that over a 100 million people will be registered on the Steemit platform in the next ten years.
When this is achieved, a significant population of the human race will now live in an age of abundance, where hunger and poverty will be history. Everyone registered on the Steemit platform will easily login to their accounts, harvest some Steem, and meet their basic needs with Steem that had been freely earned.
What Will Hinder the Age of Abundance?
Unbelief. As many persons who believe in the power of Steem and the blockchain revolution, there will be abundance. This means that the age of abundance is a choice which everyone needs to make. And, interestingly, the choice is Steemit and the new manna is Steem.
