There are 1,000,000 registered Steemit accounts.
At the start of 2018, there was about half that. Meaning we have doubled the number of accounts in about the past 5 months.

Right now there are 270,000,000 Steem circulating, and over the next year about 25,000,000 steem will be created bringing the total to just under 300,000,000 a year from now.
Doing a little math, that roughly gives us an average of 300 Steem per registered account.
(300,000,000 /1,000,000) = 300
Now, not every Steem is powered up in Steemit although these numbers assume that, but this average still gives us a good idea of the value of the average user right now. As time goes on, the average Steem per account will go down drastically!
Let's dive into what I mean.
If we do a conservative estimate, in that the amount of users doubles over the next year(remember accounts have about doubled in the past 5 months), then we will have 2,000,000 registered accounts and still about 300,000,000 Steem, bringing the average of Steem down to 150 per account.
On a more aggressive estimate, one where we double accounts in the next 6 months to 2 million and then double again the 6 months after that to 4 million, then we see the average Steem per account spike down to 75 Steem per account.
Why am I showing you this? To inspire and motivate you!
With the average Steem per user being 300 right now, every follower you get now as opposed to a year from now, will have up to 4x more Steem on average.
Also, 300 million people is not that many people, as America alone easily has more people than that.
I point this out because if Steemit goes mainstream, we will easily exceed 300 million users.
AT WHICH POINT THERE WILL ONLY BE ABOUT 1 STEEM PER USER. The price of Steem at the point will likely be considerably higher(maybe over $100).
This may not seem like a big deal, but if you think about it, since Steemit works on voting power with regard to # of Steem you have powered up, the number of followers you have is important, but so is the total number of Steem those followers have, because that is what powers their votes!
I hope I explained this well, if you have questions please ask!
