Colorado Steemit Meetup: the Coffin Races in Manitou Springs

We had another fun Colorado Steemit meetup over the weekend watching the Coffin Races in Manitou Springs! Just the week before I was able to hang out with Hive account@lpfaust and Hive account@amrauthor at MileHiCon, where we sat on a panel sharing info on blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, and Steemit. So it was great to get together again this week for a fun Halloween outing!

On Saturday, October 27, we then met up with Hive account@sunravelme, Hive account@twenty23three, and Hive account@torico in historic Manitou Springs. The history behind the Coffin Races centers around a woman named Emma Crawford who died in Manitou back in 1890. She had been seeking the therapeutic benefits of Manitou's spring water to treat her tuberculosis, but in the event of her death she asked to be buried on Red Mountain. Unfortunately, after years of rain and erosion, Emma's remains were washed down into the canyon. Today's coffin races are a hat tip to Emma, may she rest in peace.

I brought Allan, my new beau, to the meetup, too! Wanted to introduce him to my Steemit friends and give him a taste of blockchain life. I have to admit that my posting has been somewhat sparse lately, and that's largely due to way too much time spent with Allan AFK. Please forgive me!
