People are "Checking out" of the established social media platforms, by coming to Steemit, and Dtube!!! This is because they are finding a better solution, where a Corporation isn't profiting off of their efforts.
People are "Checking out" of the mainstream economy by converting their finances to the realm of crypto currencies by the MILLIONS!!! This is because they are sick and tired of Banksters ripping them off. They're tired of having their futures in the hands of Politicians, and Central Bankers who don't care about them.
My Wife and I have been researching living abroad in Mexico, and - or freely living in a full time RV situation. Thousands upon thousands of people are becoming "Expats"... Choosing to live in countries where they can live freer lives. Places where a kid can have a lemonade stand without fear of oppression. Places where having a "Rain Barrel" under their Eaves Trough isn't a capital crime. Where one can chose NOT to be connected to the corporate umbilical cords of electricity, and water... WITHOUT goons forcing them to do otherwise.... Where they can smoke a medicine of their choosing, where Government taxation isn't killing their finances, and they can grow a garden in their own yard without "Retribution". The small town My Wife, and I are looking at already has 17,000 full time US and Canadian citizens living in Mexico. People who are "Checking out" of more oppressive places to live.
Freer places to live - do exist.
People are "Checking out" of the mainstream idea of living in "Sticks & Bricks" housing in droves!!! They're tired of paying rent to the Government to have the Privilege of living in their own house, even if they have no Mortgage. They're tired of paying a Landlord, or bank every month so these leaches can profit from their struggles. They're CHOOSING to live in vans, RV's converted School Buses, and Box trucks. They're CHOOSING to live nomadic and free. Free from the trap of buying more and more stuff to fill a box with a roof that enslaves them. Free to change where they live by simply getting behind the wheel and moving their home whenever they want. Free from the idea that they have to buy crap made in China to make themselves feel better, just so they can fill a storage locker... And free from the idea that they must indenture themselves to someone else's profit so that they can support a stressful lifestyle.
People are "Checking out" of the unhealthy trap of eating just what the Corporations are serving. They're learning that the idea they must rely on a GMO filled box dripping with weed killer for something to eat is a lie!!! They're learning that there can be abundant food growing in their own yards without any tending or drudgery.
A popular Permaculture expert I know of, by the name of Geoff Lawton has a speech, where he talks about a "Tipping Point". There is a point where enough people embrace an idea (Not as large of a percentage as you might think,) that acceptance begins to grow exponentially. Where it become acceptable in the mainstream to see someone doing something and they aren't considered a "Nut Job" anymore. Many of the escapes or ways of "Checking out" I've mentioned here are nearing this "Tipping point"!!! Soon our world will be much different!!! Soon Steemit will eclipse more traditional Social Media sites. I really believe this!!! I really believe that the future is VERY bright indeed!!!
