Here Are The Changes That Will Affect How You Use Steemit
This Tuesday there will be another change to the rules regarding how you are rewarded for the content and curation you post on Steemit. Remember, Steemit is still a beta test site. That means that occasionally changes can and will be made to how things work around here. These are the highlights of changes that will affect most users.
Thou Shalt Not Spam
In an effort to curb the amount of poor quality posts being made, the rules will be altered so that only four original posts you make in a 24 hour period will get 100% rewards. If you post at a rate exceeding an average of 1 per 6 hour period, your reward percentage will decrease.
This change is being made to encourage quality over quantity. It does not affect commenting on posts, only original or root posts. This doesn't mean you can't post cute cat memes, just maybe you should only pick the cutest ones to share. I know, they are all so adorable, how can you possibly choose.
Thou Shalt Vote Early (And Often)
They are changing the payout timetable for posts. So instead of a payout for a new post after 24 hours, the payout will occur after 12 hours. A second payout will be made on each post after 30 days.
This change is being made to try to give more posts a chance to be trending, while still giving good posts that may have initially been overlooked a chance to get some momentum over time and possibly still get a good payout. It is also intended to encourage discussion on posts that can continue after the initial payout.
So don't be afraid to go back and take a look at some older cat memes. You never know there may be a really, really cute one that you missed. And by all means, tell the author how much better your life is now that you have finally found this amazingly cute picture ... of a cat.
Shall Shalt Not Feed The Whales
The Liquidity Rewards are being disabled temporarily. Doesn't really affect most people. But there were more than a few complaints that a few people were gaming the system to capture the majority of the quite substantial reward for market making.
Thou Shalt Not Steal
They are adding some information to the account history to aid in account recovery. So happy face! Less chance someone can permanently steal your account.
That's about it. There are some other changes about boring stuff like blockchain size or something. But who has time for that when there are new cat memes being created as we speak! Go get em!
