I have been playing, enjoying and reading about steemit since July 2017.
Steemit is like Reddit/medium on top of a blockchain with tokens united into the system to reward publishing the contents and other activities on the platform. It is a little bit complicated system in the beginning, but soon I got an understanding of how the dynamics are.
Steemit offers rewards for content contributions, both by publishers and curators (likes/votes) with tokens.
These tokens can be traded on exchanges against bitcoin as they claim actual value, not just a local currency of the platform. The grant of tokens is pre-explained for the future, which inevitably makes all users not to worry about the token extension.
Creating a system is likely a difficult job for the platform's users that get this mini-saving to balance. In my point of view we would see the best training for such communities appearing at some points, but now it still looks like a learning process, and that is the reason the system in the starting, is somewhat awkward and a little difficult to understand. Yet, most particularly, it seems to be working and developing, and some content contributors make real money from it.
The growth of the media landscape in the future
What I find the most exciting and inspiring about steemit is that it suggests a complete direction for the growth of the media landscape in the future. Just imagine for some time about a world where a lot of journalists are genuinely self-governing where they can create and publish their work freely and effectively, get the audience and make income, without the demand to be part of the biggest publishing platform or a magazine.
I am still learning steemit platform working on applying the blockchain pattern to the web as we know and reviving it. It is still early, because it feels like intense new concepts on steemit are emerging everyday.
If you want to support me, find more logical ways how blockchain technologies can influence the world, or want to add something to then do comment. I will be very thankful for your valuable insights.
