At the beginning of the OA show a woman runs across a busy road while cars swerve and beep. She reaches the edge of the bridge, climbs the barrier and jumps. She was found and taken to the hospital. Her mother rushes to her side whilst her father explains to the nurse that their daughter, has never seen them until today.
Seven years ago blind Prairie Johnson went missing. She returns mysteriously with her sight restored. She didnt tell her parents or the police about her life or what really happened to her in the past seven years. She had scars on her back and refers to herself as ‘The OA’.
It was unlike anything I have seen before. It was so unique and has the ability to capture you in its world that is so much closely mirrored to our own as well as providing viewers with something that is extremely refreshing using ideas that are very rare. The story of the OA is about love, loss, despair and discovery. I think the ending was perhaps a bit too open for interpretation and I sincerely hope we get a second season so that we can find out for sure what really happened.
I really love Netflix Originals. I think the way they are shaping television is fantastic and I thoroughly enjoy watching the most of them. I have never spend hours watching a full season in one day, but I do it these days. My addiction started after watching Stranger Things :)
