It's a bit odd to think about this is actually one of steems number one problem. For some reason, it is hard to be social here on Steemit(or all the other steem platforms for that matter).
Steemit: An anti-social social media
Sometimes when I am on facebook, I am part of a group of tour cyclist(probably the only reason I use facebook) who constantly posts different news on their adventures or even just to ask questions, people comment and engage in each other's posts. You can say many things about facebook, but the part of finding like-minded people are 1000 times easier than on the steem blockchain. Maybe because we are not all that many yet, but I sincerely believe that's just another excuse. The way it all builds and has progressed towards auto-votes and bots is anything but a how a social media should work if you ask me.
Of course, bots are not everything here. We also struggle with a poorly build structure that makes it next to impossible for people to gather up. Again, on facebook, you can just write in the search field a keyword and a bunch of groups will show up that you can join. I am kind of missing something like that here.
Why is it so hard to find people with same interests? I don't seem to be the only person struggling with this so if someone got some gold nuggets laying around please let me know. I feel lonely at times here lol.
I would love to support some people with the same interests as me, just to create some kind of organic community.
It's just a bit interesting to me one of the most promising projects (steem) has such a fundamental problem that the place is run by bots and auto-votes, not by the people, like how did it happen?
Let us reflect on that a bit.
Have a great sunday.
