I'm just a baby minnow who has hopes of one day swimming with the dolphins but I'm in no rush. Like most great things, this will take time and lots of effort. I've been looking at pages that offer contest and different ways of getting your name out there but have noticed a trend that gives someone like myself a pretty big disadvantage.
Your reputation score must be less than 45!
I've been on Steemit since January and would still consider myself a total noob that remains openminded and eager to learn. My reputation score jumped to 48 before I even knew what it was..
Your reputation score does not define how long you've been a member of Steemit so why should it hold you back from continuing to grow? So in reality, are these pages that only promote users with > 45 doing a solid for people with lower scores or is it really a service that will hurt Steemit in the long run by promoting those with lower numbers? I think we should be focused on the content the user produces and the quality that user adds to Steemit instead just trying to help out the small guys.
"Benefits users who haven't had enough visibility"
Is there a connection between follower count and rep score? My rep score is 52 and I have 362 followers and a little over $200 in my Steemit wallet. If you're going to call that "making it" then I'm going to ask you to tell me another joke. I'm only getting started!
I guess I'm trying to say let's focus on quality instead of just trying to help out the new guys. Our society has such a participation award mindset and it would be sad to see Steemit support this.
All photos on my blog have been taken and edited by me. The gorgeous lady in frame is my love, @Alexa.Creates
