The number of followers that is written on your Steemit profile can be misleading. Not all of your followers are alive on Steemit. There are some followers who have done no activity on Steemit for quite some time; hence called dead followers.
I was checking my list of dead followers and it seems to have risen to a fair percentage of my followers. As of the time of my check, a freaking 129 of my 797 followers were found dead.
16 % of my followers were found to be dead.
That's a whole lot of people. But the metrics that you use for calculating that number is also an important consideration. I calculated the number by keeping the criteria to the people whose last post was one month ago. Here's how my stats looked.
You can change metrics to votes and change the duration. Some of these dead people may be actively upvoting but not posting. So, you will have to use multiple criteria to get a good idea.
