I was wondering how much cellular data I was left with when a sudden realization made me feel amazed. Looking at the top data consuming apps, I could see a pattern; rather a shift.
I surf a lot so Google Chrome is the top consumer of cellular data. But, the most visited site on Chrome is steemit.com so a major chunk of that 1.20 gigabyte still went to Steemit (and hardly any to Facebook).
eSteem is an app by and it is improving day by day. It's easy to use and has more options than the regular website; for example voting percentage option for all. I use it for creating posts and writing comments regularly. That said, look at the usage of eSteem vs Facebook. Steemit wins here too.
Not only the cellular data, a look at WiFi usage has also revealed the same tendency. Look at the image below of my wifi usage.
In the same period as above, Google Chrome used 849 gb data over WiFi. Again, a major chunk of that usage went to Steemit as well (and hardly any to Facebook). The numbers speak for themselves.
What's the Deal?
The deal is; I was a big Facebook user. I have been actively using it since 2009 and followed by thousands of people there. Even then, in just 3 months, Steemit has taken over Facebook in terms of the data used. Not only that, I spend more time and deliver more content on Steemit.
That's the paradigm shift in the way I look at social media now. Even my own blog (www.ilyastarar.com) gets little time because Steemit is awesome.
Your turn now.
- Do you spend more time on Facebook or Steemit?
- How do you compare regular social media with Steemit?
- If you have to choose one, will you choose Steemit or Facebook?
