Legitimate flags vs. illegitimate flags

It has recently been brought to my attention that the NSFW posts are infested with plagiarists who not only fail to provide any attribution, but also belligerently attack anyone who requests such attribution.While Steemit is designed to be censorship-free, the flags give us the chance to send a market signal to those who abuse the platform and deny them the unjust rewards they seek.

I am not a fan of the "intellectual property" concept, but failure to offer attribution, or claiming someone else's work as your own, is a violation of the ethical principles I support. Beyond that, the use of threats and insults is simply uncivilized and should not be rewarded.

Lest anyone think I am being thin-skinned here, feel free to check out Hive account@el-mago's comment history and you can see that this user has been consistently belligerent and abusive toward anyone who confronts his/her/its behavior. It's time to rally to upvote anything flagged by this user, Hive account@steemshitlist, and anyone else using flags to attack honest users, and flag those posting spam and plagiarized content. It is up to us to maintain the community integrity.

Flags on this post are probably a good indication of who is abusing the system, so this might serve as an excellent test case to find the flag abusers, too!
