THE WILD FLOWER SONG
BY WILLIAM BLAKE
As I wander'd the forest,
The green leaves among,
I heard a wild flower
Singing a song.
I slept in the Earth
In the silent night,
I murmur'd my fears
And I felt delight.
In the morning I went
As rosy as morn,
To seek for new joy;
But O! met with scorn.
This poem by William Blake seems lighthearted and playful, even if its conclusion is doleful. I believe this is much like my photo - the Day Lily stands bright and gleeful among the moss-green backdrop, everything fresh with dew-drops and crisp air, even though it stands alone.
