I can recall my sons first day in "big school" 3 years ago and as we walked through the front gates, he was greeted by the security upon entering - which he ignored - but only that once... because he got an immediate "klip" on the back of his head and was made to turn around and greet the man properly. Never again have we had such an issue, in fact they are the best of buddies now, and will each exchange their daily "happenings" as we drive out the exit gates in the afternoon.
I was brought up with MANNERS
It is as simple as that really...
(I actually tried to find a GIF to depict this, but it is apparent that our society is so bloody Fncked that there isnt a GIF alive that can depict decent manners....)
So I have used this "vintage pic" instead lol
Ironically, it happens to have been taken from an article titled "Invisible art of etiquette: Having good manners delivers all sorts of unexpected gains"
(Had a REAL good chuckle at that!)
MY POINT?
Where the bloody hell are people's manners!
About 6+ months ago, I launched our server on discord. My intention behind starting this server was to create a community of authentic and quality individuals, that not only give a toss about one another, but are willing to go the extra mile. We are a real little family now, and I am prouder to say that right now, MORE than ever!!!!
I decided to do a little experiment earlier tonight....
I am a member of SEVERAL discord servers...
16 to be precise ;)
(including mine)
Not that many... but enough to make this point!
I have been a member of all of them for quite some time...
so am no new arrival...
and tonight I went through each and every one
in one foul swoop...
and said the same generic
"Hi Everyone"
in each general room...
No, I did not say ....
just "Hi Everyone"...
As I sit here now,
approx. 6 hours later,
I have only received return greetings
from my own community!!
Yes, one of the first things that I EVER said
to the people that joined our community,
was that good manners are compulsory,
and I am SUPER PROUD that we passed the test,
but as for the rest of the discord servers....
WHAT THE ACTUAL FNCK PEOPLE?! LOL!
When there are in excess of 100+ online....
surely at least one of you
has been taught the courtesy of saying "hello" in return?! -
No, apparently not! haha! (too sad but true!)
For any NEW person joining these communities,
how... on God's GREEN EARTH
is this supposed to make them feel welcomed,
let alone supported?!
Shocking really!
But hey,
The passed the etiquette test with
FLYING COLOURS
So hats off to all you AMAZING PEEPS
Until next time...
Much Love from Cape Town, South Africa xxx
