What happened?
A post called
"Want To Be A Steemillionaire? Here Are The Crucial Things To Do For Newbies on Steemit"

was reviewed and criticized by a post

What is the interesting part here?
The fact the articles that criticized the first one (for its high reward = thousands $, poor content, etc.) received rewards over 1000 $ each. It's like getting and taking money from something you criticize. In some circles it's called high level of hypocrisy (now it's almost 6,000$)
This is madness!
Well, it's time to stop being that surprised.
Although many are stating the opposite, writing at Steemit IS about quality and so if you write a good article you can get 0.5 $. If you write a poor article, you will get 0.01 or nothing. So quality matters although it doesn't matter that much in terms of reward. People would definitely appreciate 10-100x multiplier here at least. But that's another topic.
But on the other hand, if you write the right article at the right time and/or if you're well-known, you can get over 1,000$. What is even more surprising is when you write the right article at the right time that somehow utilizes a potential of another over-hyped article you doesn't even need to be well-known and you can also get over 1,000$.
Don't take it as a criticism of Steemit, I'm just trying to describe basic mechanics how it works here. I don't think all this chain was pre-planned, it's just how it happened.
Why? Because just one word:
VIRAL!
Best paradox behind all of this is the fact the guy who criticized someone's article for huge reward and poor content, received huge reward himself just because he rode on the wave of popularity of the article he criticized/reviewed. We can say this guy indirectly received money because of someone who he criticized.
I cannot find a better example of what "being viral" really means at Steemit than this.

I'm not focusing here on the main story behind but it's also interesting, Basically it's a discussion about directing Steemit and evaluating articles value in general. I recommend all three articles and their comments for reading so you can have some picture. Lots of opinions are clashed there each other.

Story stepped to second stage obviously. Seems that some whales with high reputation are having some fundamental problems with

During writing this article I realized that even this article is potentially riding on the same wave described above and is somehow part of that. So, in this light - will be this article also successful? Hard to say. If it meets the wave it will be. If it does not, it will not. Like a surfer who can catch a wave but who also can miss it. Time will tell and people will decide. At least you have been warned.
