Maybe many of you have heard of the "right to forget" especially with Google. And if you do not know it, you can intuit that it’s the right in the digital world to forget you totally or partially.
What is the Right to Forget?
It’s the right that you have as owner or holder of your personal data to be erased, deleted or blocked if in any way affect your honor and your image.
Just as there is the Habeas Corpus on the Internet, the Habeas Data term is coined to refer to the right that you have to control your personal data. So the Right to Forget is closely related to the Habeas Data.
What does have to do with Steemit?
As far as I researched everything that is published in Steemit is registered forever in the blockchain, post, comment, votes etc. The question is, what if I want to delete a post that affects me in my personal or work life?, I have no way to delete that information.
I have seen several posts and comments asking about it. Some of this because the post is generating other downvotes and it affects them personally.
Although only the old post are seen by experts and developers since the blockchain is latent the possibility of being shown by third parties.
A tattoo that brings me bad memories, a drunkenness and I uploaded it to Steemit, a nude that I regret, there are many causes not to want that material to be seen.
So that title could be a headache for Steemit if any European commission, the congress or assembly of a country, a judge and the lawsuit of a lawyer ask Steemit to erase the data of some user.
And if you think that it’s not a topic that is taking interest, write in Google, -Steemit "delete post" -.
