I'm the most logical woman. There will always be poor people. No amount of re-distributing will change that. In fact, the more re-distribution takes place, the more poor people we'll have.
There will always be rich people. No matter how much you take from them, there will be another rich person to take his place.
While obviously this won't work in practicality, I do know that if people had to submit their withholding, SS contributions, and sales taxes once a year (much as we do our property taxes), then people would be a lot more judicious about how they want their money spent!
Imagine some guy making $67,000 per year. Let's say he lives in California.
On December 31, he pays his tax bills:
$ 9946.25 Withholding bill
$ 4154.00 SS tax
$ 3324.24 State Tax
How do you suppose he'll vote in his next election? For the "lower-my-taxes'' candidate..
