Earlier this week I dreamed of starting a STEEM awareness campaign mated with a charity aspect in order to encourage the men here on Steemit to record a video of them shaving their faces with a large portion of the Steem Dollar post rewards being donated to worthy causes of their choosing. The result was below:

While secretly I hoped this push to encourage Steemit users to spread the word and the wealth to those in need would end up trending on the front page and I'd be donating hundreds of dollars to charity, however..

As viewed above the Steem Backed Dollar (SBD) payout of the post was just a little over $5.45... Which I found a little disappointing personally.. However perhaps this tiny start creates something bigger!

This simply was NOT acceptable in my eyes to split up $5 between 3 worthy causes so I decided to send that amount to each of the charities on behalf of STEEM's #steemshave charity campaign.

Donations Made by the First #steemshave:

As mentioned above the first #steemshave only raised a payout of $5.45 SBD and originally I'd pledged to give 69% of the payout reward split 3 ways between the great orginizations listed below.. However not to seem like a complete cheapskate I decided to match the payout amount 200% and donate $5.00 worth of Bitcoin to them. Although a small donation in comparison to what's possible the hop is that other people take the initiatibve here on STEEM and start donating on our behalf not only to help those who help others but also aide in the awareness and adoption of our sites, currency and society as a whole.

Below are the 3 charity organizations I chose to donate towards as well as proof of payment.

Snapped a wee shot of my BTC (Bitcoin) wallet as well to show the outgoing transactions! Total Donated Bitcoin: 0.02490506 worth $15USD at the time of this post being submitted. I hope to see bigger donations from others.

This is hopefully just the beginning of donations given to non-profit charity organizations all over the world that help people not only with the basic life necessities many of us take for granted, but also aid individuals in academic, scientific research and harm reduction. Help spread the word about Steemit for good causes.

If you wish to opt out of the #steemshave charity campaign / STEEM awarness drive that I've set up that's totally cool too... But I'll ask you still donate something to a worthy cause of your choosing. You're all witnesses like myself and we need to be doing what we can given the positions we're in to help both STEEM and human happiness grow in the future. While I'm in no position to demand you empty your pockets for a good cause of your choosing, it's my hope that you flex some altruism or philanthropy muscles in a show of support for Steemit, good cause and humanity.

You Don't Have to be Nominated to Join!

This isn't some exclusive thing that you must wait until someone nominates you! Participation encouraged! I personally invite anyone wishing to join in on the #steemshave to do so by creating a post featuring you shaving and then a folow up post donating over 50% of the SBD reward from your #steemshave to charity of your choice (with proof such as above given after) and then also powering up 100% of the STEEM earned as well.

Ladies, not to be left out if you can find some way to join in on #steemshave I welcome you aboard! In the future I'll try and be more thoughtful in including you in my STEEM charity and awareness campaign.
