Are followers all that important on Steemit?
If you want upvotes on your articles and people to pay attention to your work and eventually create a network you can use to support yourself and those around you, then YES.
Followers are very important.
In my book every follower, every person you interact with has value. The minnow will become a dolphin and the dolphin can become a whale.
On steemit there are whales, dolphins and minnows.
Whales can upvote you and leave your posts with a lot of money but really why would they unless they are your friend or more importantly, your content appeals to them?
Dolphins can leave you with a nice boost for their upvote and they too are just as important as whales.
Minnows are beginners with very low voting power. I would say they are the most important, it is with them that you will make your push to becoming something greater. Minnows are the foundation of Steemit so spend time building personal relationships with them.
The Mistake
A lot of Steemians (people who use Steemit) only focus on 'making friends' with whales to get them to follow.
A few whale upvotes can be worth more than the vote of 100 minnows.
An army of minnows will slowly and surely become greater than any single whale given time and effort.
Here are some ideas for getting more followers on Steemit
I don't have enough followers and most likely neither do you. So here is my idea and by all means feel free to copy it.
We should all make a similar post and set up a chain of followers
I will be upvoting anyone using the hashtag #ldauch and my upvote at full power is worth about 4 cents at the current Steem power value. Make sure to find posts that interest you and add to their discussion. Don't leave generic comments because that would be considered spam. Really put some thought into them!

The best way to get new followers is to write about what you love and what you are interested in and really create thoughtful, intelligent and supportive content.
