Beautiful post here Hive account@samstickkz. Steemit has the potential to beat Facebook if it can only surmount its setbacks.
Part of the setbacks like you've mentioned are:

Difficulty in setting up new accounts or having new accounts approved
Getting big value for posts of little value and little value for posts of big value. This causes great discouragement for content creators.

But I have faith that it will get better with time.
