For any Steemian that has been on Steemit for sometime now, they have seen bots of all sorts. Bots that automatically resteem your post, look through Steemit for plagiarism, give out upvotes, looks for short url generated links, etc. I don't know about you guys, but it kind of takes away from the experience for me.
For a lot of people, I'm sure they love these bots. Especially the resteem and upvote bots since they help one's own account grow faster than if one were to grow their account organically. For me personally, it's a pay to win system. For those that know about the bots and are able to have extra Steem to fund the bot, they can see their account flourish.
After a while, I have gotten used to it. Seeing upvote and resteem bots on every other posts has become a common thing to see. There is a plagiarism bot that checks posts to make sure they're are original and not pulled from another blog or media source in order to make money. But is it really necesary for all of these bots?
I believe they should be limited. As I said before, it takes away from the Steemit experience. If someone makes an account on Steemit and they put out bad content, do they really deserve to get upvotes and make money from their posts? A resteem/upvote bot doesn't care what kind of content is produced. It does what it was programmed to do. Only the Steemit community can decide if content is worth upvotes and resteems. I do think bots are good, but not for everything.
What about you?
