Today is the day I called “the day to remember” in my life. It was indeed a memorable experience to all of us. We made it! We just actually made it! We made them smile, laugh and enjoy for a moment.
I am the one raising the hands with pink towel.
It all started with a simple plan.

Last October 1 happened our very first meeting of the core members of SteemPh-Cebu and this became one of our major targets – to have an event for the children. Then, a time to time plans happened last few weeks before the big event. Flow of the program, games, food preparations and fund raising were discussed. All of us, the core members, are fired-up to make this possible; so we did our very own best.
The World Food Day...
This is an event that is celebrated every year on October. As our main goal, we wanted to help our community. The World Food Day is the perfect time for our occasion and the 150 children coming from different corners of Mandaue City are our beneficiaries.
We found a perfect venue!
With the effort of the team, especially @itinerantph & @fernwehninja, we found a perfect venue for our event with the coordination of Mandaue City Council. The area is so big, capable of handling more than a hundred of people. The room is airconditioned, it has projector, speaker and a microphone.
The picture is taken during opening prayer.
The Program
This was the program flow lately, 10 am to 12 noon.
Aside from food distribution and giving of toys and slippers, we make sure that all of them will really enjoy our prepared games.
Yes, they are 150 of them. It was really difficult to handle during games, but we have volunteers to help and to assist us. Thank you and
for helping. Those two are my classmates and one of the amazing Steemians who volunteered this day.
The game "longest line" was held outside. I think this was the most enjoyed game of the day. All of them are grouped into 15 and make a line as long as they can using only the things they wear. Haha.
With me (wearing black at the left side) are the winners of each game. They are very happy and excited for the prices as you can see.
The main event...
The lunch was cooked with an extreme effort by @queenjventurer and her mom. They made and packed the lunch boxes at their home. We are very thankful to that beautiful woman.
It composed of:
- Rice (1/2 cup)
- 1 Fried Chicken
- 2 Lumpia
- Munchkin
We also provided them a juice to drink.
And yes, our prepared foods satisfied them.
The giving of slippers...
We called it "Steemit Slippers". We also gave them slippers so that they can have a remembrance from this day. They are in different sizes.
They are very excited to wear their new slippers.
Perfectly fit!
I am sure, all of them are overwhelmed with happiness. Simple things we did, but they have a big impacts in their hearts.
I am very thankful...
I am very thankful to ,
,
etc. for helping us reach our target funds. Without you, this day will never happen and our plans will just stay as a plan forever. Thank you so much for bridging us to spread good deeds.
I don't know, I don't have more words to say.
I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY TODAY.
If only you could see the happiness in the eyes of the child while I am giving the packed lunch, your heart will melt. This day, is the best day so far in my life.
Future Plans
We have future plans, and more like this to happen. More promotions, reach out programs and activities for the benefit of our community; not just in Steemit but to our real world.
As a community leader and Steemit Advocate...
Dear Steemit, I am introducing myself.
I am Mike and I am your new advocate!
I want Steemit to be known in the world. I want Steemit to reach the unreachable. I want Steemit to introduce to my family, friends and to the community where I belong.
I am not giving up, this is my driving force.
The @steemph.cebu Team
Together with the volunteers, these are my Co-Leaders:

Again to ,
,
etc. Each curate you made to our posts lately and to our page
is now a happiness in the form of lunch box and slippers to the 150 children. Thank you a lot.
Always remember...
Small things can have a big impact!
Let us nurture this community.
I know we can do it, if we will and we shall.
Happy World Food Day everyone!
