Welcome fellow Steemian's, having just joined this community and having read the entire 44-page white paper (twice) I couldn't help but notice that there are an awful lot of bots on Steemit? (Bots = non human = computer program built to perform a function)
The scenario.
I recognise and understand that the website is still in beta and there will be bots doing certain things, like welcoming new users etc. And I apologise in advance, just in case someone else has asked this question. (the steemit search function needs work. Well basically we need a search function)
The bot that I am curious about, is controlled from a website called Steemvoter dot com which is a seperate website to Steemit. As far as I can see.
On this website, you can select a number (0 to 20)of Steemit users (your friends-accomplices) to reward with your steemit dollars, steem power etc. thereby automating the voting process and making you a lot of money in the process.
You can set this up, to vote up your friends posts every day (without even seeing the post let alone reading it?)
My reading of the 44 - White paper on Steemit is that: - Humans (us) will read and vote up or down the content that they see as valuable or not of much value.
Ensuring that, only the very best content is promoted within the Steemit community.
If some users are using the bot to vote automatically. Doesn't that make the whole human interaction thing redundant?
In my view, it seems to fly in the face of what this community is trying to achieve.
My question to all Steemians is this.
Is this a legitimate method to extract value from Steemit?
What is your opinion?
