Ladies and gentlemen, we have the revised black shirts!
For those who haven't been following this project, the first round of samples came back with mixed results. The white shirts came out much better than expected due to the color of the shirt and the color of the graphic. The black shirts however, were a bit off and I decided to ask for a reprint. The supplier happily agreed and they were able to fixed the problem...sort of. Lets see if you guys can spot the differences!
Here is the new shirt!
And here is the old shirt!

Notice any differences?
Here, let me give you a side by side
Here is a close up shot of the first printing, notice the following:
- Fraying of the image edges
- A deeper hue of blue
- Less contrast between the darker and lighter blue
Here is a close up shot of the revised printing, notice the following:
- The color is much lighter in hue. The first sample had a really dark blue that was really satisfying on the white shirts. On the black shirts, the blue was short of lost in the black shirt, so the whiter color is actually a bit more catchy to the eye.
- You can see a denim type of pattern going on. My guess is that they reduced the amount of white added to the printing process through manipulating the colors.
- There is no more fraying edges for the graphic though!
What do you guys think? Do you think the lighter hue looks good? Does the denim pattern features bother you? I think it looks nice, and at the end of the day, it might not be possible to have the exact pattern I want when it comes to DTG printing of these shirts, which seems to be the only method to get this graphic on a shirt. Silk screens can't provide the gradient you need, and the polyester based printing methods don't work with cotton shirts.
Do you want to give away a free shirt?
If you create promo contest to give away SBD or STEEM, why not try giving away one of my free shirts? Message me if you have a give away planned and lets get together and give one of your winners a free shirt! Check out my previous post for details!
Give me your thoughts guys!
- What do you think about the lighter color?
- Do you think the black shirt looks better with a lighter logo?
- What's your preference, white or black shirt?
- Do you think it would be cool to put the words STEEM on the left end of the sleeve? Maybe 3/4" tall?
Here's a peak of the first owner of one of these shirts! @hrissm
