Many people join Steemit for money. That is a fact. The number of accounts has crossed 300k but the number of daily active accounts? 20-30k only. That's just a little percentage of total number of users; 10 % or less.
What might be the reason for this inactivity? What drives people away from Steemit? Why do people not Steem daily or at least regularly? What makes the 90 % users not use the platform of Steemit?
These are some of the intriguing questions to ask. Let's see if the answer is what we think it is.
People Join for Easy Money
Yes! That's one of the most frequent reasons to join Steemit. People think that it is easy to post stuff and get rewarded for that. They join in, try to get followers and upvotes and then try to scam the system in some way to get the money they want.
But that's not what happens. They don't get what they hoped for, so they leave Steemit and abandon their account. Accounts can not be deleted so the inactive accounts keep being counted; thus adding to the stats.
Why do they have to leave?
Because...
There's No Easy Money!
Easy money is what they came for but they forget that easy money does not exist. There's no easy money. Money loves people who work for it and doesn't go to people who just want it.
The inadequacy of effort on their part is also blamed on Steemit. They call Steemit unfair and stuff. But that's only because they thought they were about to earn bags full of money by doing nothing.
But doing nothing earns nothing.
Characteristics of Quitters
This is an interesting part of this post. I am going to list down characteristics of people who leave Steemit in terms of what they do and what they don't do. Let's begin with what they do that leads to giving up.
Things Steemit Quitters Do
There can be variation from case to case but these things are common among all the Steemit Quitters.
- They hear about Steemit from a friend or an internet source and think they have found a way to make easy money.
- Then they join Steemit and start looking for money.
- They don't find money so they try to look for shortcuts that can earn them money.
- Follow for follow and upvote for upvote bargains begin. Spamming on others' post starts.
- They start getting flagged or earn no reward for posting content of bad quality.
- After a few rants, they leave Steemit without benefitting from this amazing platform.
That's how most of the inactive Steemians left. But there are things they didn't do. If they had done those things, story would have been different.
Things Steemit Quitters Don't Do
The secret of success lies in doing. Work is your best friend no matter what you are doing in life. But the quitters don't believe in work. Here are the things quitters fail to do and ultimately fail on Steemit too.
- They don't consider Steemit a complete ecosystem which needs to be understood before inhabiting it.
- They out zero effort in learning how things work. Instead, they try to scam the system.
- They don't have anything to give but want to take more and more.
- They don't contribute good content to Steemit feeds.
- They provide no value to their followers in terms of healthy interaction.
- They do not work hard to bring their best selves out.
- They don't learn from their mistakes and rather quit the platform.
