What the article pretty much says is that the first steemit user who noticed something was wrong was Hive account@dragonslayer109 because someone was transfering steem from his account to a bitrex account.

After that incident,many more users noticed the same thing and that is when the FBI was notified.

The investigators concluded that it was only about 260 users affected by the attack

They praise Hive account@ned for recovering succesfull all accounts and containing this DDOS attack to a minimum.

Using the «blockchain-based multi-factor authentication» after the attack they say was the best possible move they could make
